You might already know Melly Rose as the musical prodigy that made it to BET Soul, MTV, and New York Times, all at once through her unprecedented music track, ‘Body Good.’ The track, ‘Body Good,’ aimed to fight for women’s empowerment and intends to make women of all colors, races, and body types feel ‘good’ about themselves. The track also shows that Melly is an avid supporter of the ‘Black Lives Matter Movement.’
Melly Rose is no stranger to welcoming any accolades that come her way. Melly Rose’s track, ‘Amazing,’ made it into Pandora’s Caribbean artistes to watch for in 2022 (Pandora’s Artists to Watch 2022: Caribbean).
Melly Rose credits all of her successes to her decision to move back to Trinidad and Tobago. Rose believes that if she hadn’t moved back to Trinidad, she perhaps wouldn’t have made it into the global spotlight. Melly Rose believes that moving back to Trinidad and Tobago was the best decision in her life.
“I love soca. I love my culture, the music, and the food. I’m a little bit extra in relation to how I dress, and I love colored hair. When it came to the central point of what kind of music I wanted to do what genre, I thought I really wanted to do soca. I want to go home and do soca,” Rose told her fans.
Melly Rose was born in Trinidad and Tobago. Later, Melly Rose moved to the United States. In the United States, Rose received a formal education. She attended the Baltimore School of Arts and Morgan State University to complete her education. Once she was done with that, Melly decided to move back to Trinidad and Tobago, her warm, lovely island. According to Melly Rose, shifting back to her lovely island was the best decision of her life.
Melly Rose told her fans that she absolutely loves Trinidad. She loves the peaceful-island vibe, she loves the warm weather, she loves the river beach, and most importantly, she loves staying close to her family. Staying close to her family in Trinidad means that her family will always be close to her even in her darkest times and will always be there to uplift and nurture her spirits.
What makes Melly Rose stand out from the rest of the singers is the fact that, unlike other singers who jump at any opportunity in the United States, Melly rose did the exact contrary. Rose was fixated on pursuing soca music and becoming a legacy for her homeland.
Rose’s mother challenged her decision, but she explained to her that she didn’t want to look back on her life and tell herself that she didn’t accomplish something she truly wanted to do. Knowing this, in the future, we can expect some great soca hits from this Trinidadian prodigy.
