Rapper DMX was arrested in New York City Friday night, according to the New York County Sheriff’s Office.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said the 44-year-old rapper and Yonkers native — whose birth name is Earl Simmons — was taken into custody for “several issues outstanding.”
An arrest warrant was issued for the rapper by the Erie County Family Court for $400,000 worth of back child support, the spokesman said. Another arrest warrant was issued by the city of White Plains for bail jumping; the city of Yonkers is accusing the rapper of being an aggravated unlicensed motor vehicle operator; and a criminal complaint out of Newark, N.J., names DMX as a suspect in an April 5 robbery at a gas station in that city, the sheriff’s office said.
DMX was slated to perform at 8 p.m. at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, according to Ticketmaster’s website. He was arrested at 10:30 p.m. in Manhattan by sheriff’s office deputies. The spokesman could not say whether DMX was taken into custody at the venue or if it happened during his Friday night show.
