Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, and other members of the GS9 crew appeared in a Manhattan Supreme Court this morning where a judge announced that their trial would begin on October 5. During the preliminary hearing, Shmurda was offered a plea deal of an eight-year sentence for his role as the supposed “mastermind” of the GS9 crew, for which he faces multiple weapon and drug charges.

Prosecutors also announced that Shmurda was punished in prison recently for reportedly receiving a sharp metal object from another inmate, though sources close to Shmurda denied that the incident went down as the prosecutor said. During Rowdy Rebel’s appearance in front of the court, he was also offered a plea deal for a seven-year sentence, though his lawyer also turned it down. With the trial date set for October, the judge also scheduled a meeting between the involved attorneys for August 19, where they will figure out which clients would be included in the multi-defendant trial, and if Shmurda would be separated from the group. We will continue to update with details as they become available.
