Global artist bring international touch to experimental music on new EP ‘Smoke Break Vol. 2’
ORLANDO, FL – Many music fans know that much of where the magic happens is underground. The greatest music usually comes from unknown artists who casual fans haven’t quiet heard about yet, but who are pushing hard to get their message out to the world. Avidix is a rapper and artist on the rise who is doing exactly that.
Emerging from the elite Miami music scene, Avidix is an international artist whose star is on the rise. He’s already creating important work on his way to becoming a new and vital voice for the Hip Hop community. Known for his versatile rhyming structures and dynamic approach in lyricism, Avidix exhibits the skills and dedication needed to secure his spot in the industry. Influenced by a vast array of artists – from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to Jimi Hendrix – Avidix is well on his way to taking his place alongside the industry’s major players in the game.
His newest release is a single called ‘Sippin’ which is set to drop on Nov. 5 along with his five-song EP “Smoke Break Vo. 2.” The single is a representation of who he is as an artist and what he wants to become known for as a global artist. It reflects what he calls the “modern underground Florida sound” while also being very “4/20 friendly.”
“That’s the whole aesthetic of who I am, and it’s the perfect song not only to represent me but this entire EP,” Avidix said. “It’s the kind of project that is perfect for when you’re at work or school and you want to go on a smoke break. You can pop this in and listen to it the entire time.”
Originally from Angola in Southwest Africa, Avidix moved to East London with his family when he was young. He didn’t come to the U.S. until 2014. Since that time, he’s been studying music production and recording arts while experimenting with his unique sound and style. He said that experimentation is what led him to find his signature sound.
“I’m not too similar to the regular patterns that other people follow,” he said. “I would say I have an experimental sound. I’m not too commercial. I like to mix genres like Reggae and Hip Hop, or Indie and Hip Hop. I’ll just mix anything and I listen to all types of music. If I get inspired by something I hear, I’ll try to incorporate that sound or idea into my music.”
Avidix said his entire family has been into music with an older brother who was the founder of the first rock band in Angola and an uncle who wrote the country’s national anthem. His grand-uncle is also the founder of the genre of music known as Semba. And today, Avidix said he’s trying to take that legacy to the next level and make his family proud.
“They could never take their music to the global scale so I’m trying to do that for all of us,” he said. “I have a laid back style with a positive vibe that promotes good times. I want my music to be a part of people’s lives on a daily basis. If you’re going through something, just sit back, roll one up and enjoy the positive vibes I’m bringing. If you’re low and listening to it, the positive messages will lift you up. They will bring you out of that depression. If you’re feeling lonely, come to me. Listen to my music and be inspired.”
