For the past several months, the kids of America has created a National School Walkout in protest of the nonsensical gun violence that has been happening in schools recently.
The latest school shooting happened on last week in Santa Fe, Texas, where a 17-year old boy killed 10 people at a school. Before then, it was in Ocala, Florida (northwest of Orlando) in April. Police reported a student being shot in the ankle at Ocala’s Forest High School, and a suspect is in custody. The walkouts also drew momentum from February’s mass shooting at South Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, also marks the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in which two gunmen killed 12 students and a teacher, but the outcry for gun reform does not stop there.
With the help of producer Ty Fyffe and Def Squad’s Erick Sermon, fifteen-year-old New York artist Elijah the Young Prophit released his passionate song where he addresses President Donald Trump on this hot topic issue and how it affects his generation, and now it comes with a dope new visual directed by Shock B, premiering on Vibe Magazine.
Young Prophit, and other young adults like him, are tired of the feeling unsafe in a facility where they came to learn. They feel that enough is enough and hope for some kind of resolution to happen soon.
“Letter 2 Trump” is on the Empowerment/Def Squad Label and is out now on all digital music platforms.
