In response to last week’s current events in police violence, Steelohim releases a powerful double single by New York City producer and MC Ant McQueen (of 1st Generation) called “Want Us Gone” (Produced by Kyo Itachi) and “NoNoNo” (produced by Ant McQueen).
” Want Us Gone” is a song expressing the pains and fears of the disenfranchised and suffering that died unarmed at the hands of police officers nationwide. We as a socially conscious Hip-Hop label could not simply just remain silent in these inexplicable times of violence and inequality. The time for silence is over. It’s time to use our voices to educate the world in order to chance our current system.
“NoNoNo” is a Howard Zinn journey into the history of the how things got to this point dating back to Columbus’s landing on American soil. It’s graphic and unforgiving; a tongue and cheek delivery of brashly potent lyrics. It’s the history they don’t teach us in school, it’s a answer to why we’re in our current state of violence.
They released these songs in hopes that it creates dialog and helps us heal. This is a time for change, organizing, education, and effective collective peaceful solutions. This is a important time in history and we as creatives need to stand up and use our voices.
Please Be Vocal and Speak Up…Before it’s too late. Let’s change our world!
