FIGHTBALL®, the global sports entertainment property that has transformed one-on-one basketball into a hyper-intensive rivalry, returns to New York City tomorrow, March 3rd, with the first of three punishing tournaments. FIGHTBALL 01, 02 and 03 NYC will push 16 of the world’s most skilled and notoriously tough players to their limits for the chance to win a grand prize of $100,000 and the title of Spring 2016 FIGHTBALL Champion.

Eight athletic ballers will battle tonight in a show of skill, endurance, strength and passion. The winner of tomorrow’s qualifier tournament will be awarded $10,000, and the top four finishers will move on to compete in the FIGHTBALL Championship tournament on Friday, March 10. Friday night, another eight players will battle for $10,000 in a second qualifier tournament, and the top four will also move on to compete at the Championship tournament, where $100,000 is on the line.

“After the success of our first tournament, FIGHTBALL 00 NYC, we knew we had to come back even bigger this year,” said FIGHTBALL co-founders Jonas Hallberg and Liron Reznik. “We are excited to show the world why FIGHTBALL is the most exciting new sports property out there. Bar none.”

The tournaments will be hosted by MC Joe Pope at SIR/Stage 37, and will go beyond the average sporting event to mash the court with the club. The venue’s hardwood basketball court will serve as the epicenter of a nightclub setting where legendary DJ Clark Kent will deliver a live music mix, including an exclusive FIGHTBALL soundtrack created by hip hop producer Just Blaze. World-famous hip-hop artists will entertain the crowds before each tournament’s final game.

FIGHTBALL is a true 21st century sport, upping the intensity, endurance, physicality and athleticism needed to win due to its unique format. Each eight-minute game is played on a 40-foot court outfitted with two hoops, and an eight-second shot clock ensures a fast-paced, physically demanding game. Each dunk is worth three points, while shots taken from the FIGHTBALL two-foot mid-line is two points. All other baskets earn the shooter one point. Lastly, the ref will only call hard fouls.
