According to a tweet from his agent, the New York Giants have added tight end Jerome Cunningham to their practice squad.

Cunningham was released in the first round of player cuts from 90 to 75 players. Despite being brought in to camp late after undrafted free agent Xavier Grimble suffered a hamstring injury, Cunningham made enough of an impression that the Giants obviously want to see more.

Cunningham, 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, played collegiately at Division II Southern Connecticut State University, where he had 61 catches from 2009-2012. He was in camp with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013.

Cunningham played 23 preseason snaps for the Giants without catching a pass.

The Giants, of course, struggled throughout preseason to identify a tight end. They kept Larry Donnell, Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson. There were times, however, when Cunningham looked like a player who belonged. He gets an opportunity to show that now as a member of the practice squad.

With the signing, the Giants have now added nine players to their 10-man practice squad.
